Teaching Philosophy

♪          All students are individuals who have different learning styles, needs, interests, opinions, and experiences. My personal teaching method is composed of a combination of modern and traditional schools of thought. A main goal is to keep the lesson format open to ensure that students have fun, and to meet the needs of the individual student through a student-centered approach. Lessons may include theory activities, games, warm ups, and even composition! Music learned includes classical and student's suggestions.

♪         My goal as a teacher is to guide students to become independent musicians and thinkers, who will eventually be able to approach unfamiliar music on their own. My role is to equip students with the necessary tools and skills in order for them to play confidently and expressively. My hope is that students will be able to continue to play and love music, as well as share it with their family and friends. … I hope your child will have fun and enjoy piano lessons, as much as I will enjoy teaching them!

Growing up, I come from a classically trained background, having studied piano with Patricia Rolston since the age of four until University, where then I continued my piano studies with Miranda Wong.
